Sophos XG Home - Heartbeat

Good evening,

My previous install of Sophos XG Home 18.5 the heartbeat status worked.  I've done a reinstall on different hardware and the heartbeat status is red.  I've de-registered from central etc.  Is there something else I should look at or should heartbeat never have worked on a Home install?

  • I've never had an issue with heartbeat and my home licensed XG but I do use paid for Intercept X at home. I've had a few variations of hardware and don't remember having to do anything special other than register the XG in CM.

  • I am running home premium on my MACs and intercept on the Idevices, I don't see heartbeat as an option. Trouble is interceptX on the Idevices is unmanaged.

  • Home Premium is not InterceptX. Home Premium is a own, standalone solution.

XG Home supports heartbeat. Intercept X (Central Managed) also supports the Heartbeat.

The issue come up, as Home is not Central managed. Therefore the piece of "Which XG should i connect to?" is missing.

Heartbeat is a certificated based product. If you are sitting behind "your" XG, it automatically connects to the heartbeat, as it trusts the XG firewall. If you are behind a third party XG Firewall (For example you are in a hotel customer, using XG), interceptX recognize, there is a XG, but does not build up the Heartbeat.

This entire part is missing in Sophos Home - As you cannot introduce the XG Home to this setup, you cannot combine the Heartbeat. A paid Intercept X Solution in Central can be introduced to the HB.
