Configuring 50 Mbps ILL for single PC to check its performance

Hi,

We have Internet access from multiple ISPs which are configured in load balance. We have connected the new 50 Mbps ILL link on port4 of Sophos XG310 firewall (ver.18.4 MR4). Now we want to verify its performance. to check the performance, I have created a firewall LAN to WAN rule for a single PC with a source network local PC and destination network any.  Then created SNAT rule with Source Network local PC and SNAT Public IP Address of ILL. Inbound interface port1 and outbound interface port4. After the configuration, I checked "My IP Address" showing the public IP Address of another lLL.  Then I created an SD-WAN Policy route with source interface Port1 (LAN), Source Network Local PC Name, all other settings are any, and primary gateway port4. After that, it started showing the static IP address of the ILL. But when checked performance using speedtest.net, the download speed was around 50 Mbps but the upload speed was less than 7 Mbps.

If I directly checked the link by terminating it on the laptop, it shows both uploads and downloads around 50 Mbps. I know I am doing something wrong. I can't ping static IP addresses of other ISPs connected to the same firewall even with this configuration.

Please suggest the correct configuration.

  • Hi,

Tried deleting the SNAT rule and changed policy settings. Still, it is showing an upload of around 7 Mbps. Migrated rules for other ISP's are working fine.

  • Hi,

my experience of speedtest.net is that I have t change servers until I find one that works correctly for downloads also the app  uses out 8080. Upload testing always works and shows correct results, but download not good.

  • Hi,

In my case, I am getting download speed as expected, the issue is with upload speed. I tried testing using various servers. Also, all other Internet connections from different ISPs terminated on the same firewall are showing the results as expected. I have changed your suggested settings, but the result is not changed.
