Control Center interface issue

I logged into XG yesterday to do something and noticed my Interfaces icon was showing orange.  According to the help page this means "Warning 50% or less WAN links are down.  Click the icon to see details of the WAN links."

So I clicked it.  It then takes me to a page that shows all my interfaces are up and all WAN gateways are up and green.  Just for grins and giggles I went to the diagnostics page and confirmed I could ping out on every interface I have.

What am I missing here?

Hi Bil, Thanks for reaching out to Sophos Community.

It's not always the WAN links that cause the Interface to show as orange. It can be any interface that is down or configured with an IP but unplugged.

Go to Network > Interface to check and verify it.

  • No interfaces are down and none are not configured with an IP.  All three interfaces (LAN and 2 WAN) are static IPs and have been configured this way for months, for some reason between Friday and yesterday XG now just shows a warning for no discernable reason.

  • Not just yours, mine was sending  emails about random link failures lasting for some minutes, but the users continued on without any issues. It was only the IP4 part, IPv6 was fine.

  • Hello Bill,

Adding to what my coworker Devesh mentioned if this is still happening run the following command from the Advanced Shell of the XG

    # cd /log

    # tail -f tomcat.log | grep "Connection Widget Data"

After this move to the Network menu and then click Control Center, wait for 3-7 seconds, and it should show you what interface is being detected as down.

    Regards,

  • I did the command and it seems to show that I don't have an IPv6 address via DHCP on one of my WAN connections.  However I do have an IPv6 address and traffic is transiting it just fine so obviously I do have an IPv6 address and gateway on that interface.  I bet a reboot of the XG will resolve it but I don't feel like taking my internet down just to test it, since I know it is simply a false alarm I will ignore it for now.
