Sophos XG Firewall Home Edition Boot Loop After Registration

I performed a fresh install of SFOS 18.0.4 on a mini-PC.  Everything went fine until I registered it and initiated license sync.  As soon as I did that, the firewall crashed and will not boot.  I connected a monitor and when it gets to the point that it says "Starting 18.0.4", the system restarts.  This is in an infinite loop.

  • It is a SATA drive.  It has been working fine for about 2 years.  I had to reinstall the firmware a while ago it because a firmware update went in sideways.  It was running without issue on 18.0.1 for a few months, albeit unregistered.  I corrected the system time on it and registered.  As soon as I initiated the license sync, the boot-loop issues.

  • Hi,

sounds a bit like the disk has been corrupted during the sync process.

  • So, I swapped the drive and re-flashed, just to rule it out.  Go figure, it may have been the drive because it is working now.  Never seen a failing SSD behave like this, but I guess we live and learn.  Thanks for the help!
