Backup Gateway Does Not Work When Active Goes Down

what test do you apply to test that the main link has failed?

Yes.. i have configure according to given doc. kindly advise.

main link failed means its down from backside or unlugged form router end.

What is the firmware version on your firewall, and have you configured firewall rules and SNAT rules with the backup gateway? 

Also, as rfcat_vk mentioned, what test do you apply to test the main link?
