I would suggest checking if the lcdd service is running or if you find any clue in the lcd.log, but most likely since the XG will treat it as Software, probably the LCD won’t work.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I think it has to do with the type of install. The XG Home Firewall is installed as a software version.

Are you guys still not looking at allowing a hardware device to use a Home License?

Hi,

you can install the home version on a Sophos hardware device, you need to wipe/replace the the hard drive to remove the hardware information. In most cases the LCD will not work.

This is unhelpful and repetitive - the issue is that by doing this, we completely cripple the physical capabilities of the hardware, thus sort of defeating the purpose of owning it.

I’ve just purchased a used XG310 to replace the god awful Ubiquiti UDM Pro I talked myself into... I’ll be getting my hands dirty in the coming weeks trying to make my device function properly as a hardware device with a home license. It almost certainly can be done... I just wish some of the folks at Sophos would help us out by allowing us to fully utilize the HARDWARE they sell... I’m not asking for full support or anything just the ability to use the device as intended... 

It certainly can and has been done, but will be wiped out at the next MR installation.

Personally I've never found the LCD and the controls associated with it of much use (on hardware versions).

The only thing I can think of that the home edition really lacks is AES-NI hardware acceleration (you can vote for it here - https://ideas.sophos.com/forums/330219-xg-firewall/suggestions/40424218-hardware-acceleration-aes-ni-for-xg-software-ver)

Is there anything else you feel is lacking in terms of hardware support in the software version?
