Can an XG 125W replace a router?

Newby here:

We currently have a TP-Link consumer grade WiFi router connected to fiber and wish to purchase an XG 125W.

Can the XG firewall serve as a router?

If not, how would a router connect to the firewall?

What do people use for routers?

I appreciate any assistance.

  • Hi,

Besides checking they have the appropiate number of ports and features, yes, XG is the inside is a router with security features. At a glance, I don't find anything that a home/"business" grade router can do and a firewall cannot.

So yeah, go ahead, but be aware: While the XG is very easy to setup, is not "home router" easy. So, some learning is required.
