Sophos XG - Some issues with access to Google suite with Chrome.

Hi to all,

In our company we use the Google Suite for Enterprise, so Gmail, Drive, etc.. are very important for us. Since yesterday, we have some problems to download file attached in received emails or accessing to our cloud which is in Drive. These issues with the Google Suite (Drive, Gmail, etc) are only when we access via Chrome browser. If we try to do the same with IE we browse these pages fine.

When I check the XG, I can see in the application control log as the users are trying to browse with an anonymizer application (VPN Lighter) then the app control drops this connection. We haven't changed anything in the sophos so I think the problem is some update in the Chrome browser.

Somebody have the same problem?? Now, I've solved the problem allowing the VPN Lighter Application, but I don't think that is the best way to solve this problem.

Any idea???

Thanks in advance!!

David.

  • Hello David,

Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community.

Sorry I didn't understand, did your users use VPN Lighter as VPN application or suddenly the XG started detecting the traffic going to GSUITE as if it was coming from VPN Lighter? If your users are using the VPN Lighter application, then yes you should allow the APP, if not we would need to check why the traffic going to GSUITE is being categorized as VPN Lighter.

    Regards,

  • Hi,

The users don't use VPN Lighter, but the XG show connections to Google's IPs via this application so the traffic is blocked.

As I said, we use GSuite for professional purposes, then we need this traffic allowed but without VPN Lighter.

    Thanks.

    David.

PD: If you can't see the images I will attach as a files.
