Log Viewer issue

Hello,

I have a XG85 running for a small office.

I decide to check some logs but for my surprise the only thing I can see in the IPS/Admin/Web Filter, etc is this:

Im running the latest firmware.

I can see the packets on the firewall tab but from time to time, I got those square brackets in between the packets.

I assume you mean v17.5.9, not v18 GA?

Are you running any "adware" blocking software or any other BHOs in your browser?

Can you try another browser or try in incognito mode to see if it does it again?

Also are you using another language to view the log in the XG?

I have had this happen from time to time, usually it has to do with really high usage on the firewall overall. What is your usage for CPU/RAM at?

Hello KingChris,

I am running some "adware" blocking on firefox but this issue still happening if I use Microsoft Edge or Chrome without add-ons.

I'm using english as the language to view the GUI.

Hello Badrobot,

Usually, the CPU usage is 40%-50% and the Memory usage is about 70%.

That is not horrible but not the best either. Just to test it, can you disable a few things like IPS, Content and Malware Scanning for a short period to lower the CPU and memory and then see if the log viewer loads? It would be interesting to see if it is timing out in some way due the the higher resource usage.

Also, you can fine tweak things such as your IPS to only be protecting the systems/threats you have on your LAN. For example, you do not need Linux IPS protection if you do not have a Linux box on your LAN. This can help lower the overall CPU/RAM usage on the firewall.

Are you connecting to the WAN interface or the LAN interface or via Wireless?

Also could you try to clear your web cache or alternatively try another machine?

You could try and stop the IPS service temporarily to see if this resolves your problem. If it does, then its possible that your device is under sized for the network its in.

The XG85 is good for a maximum of 5-10 devices depending on features enabled. This includes users and end peripherals that reach out to the internet or across zones.
