CenturyLink PPPoE problem - can't connect to WAN

Hi,

I'm a new user trying out Sophos XG. I successfully have it up and running and can get access to the GUI via the LAN. My issue is that I can't seem to connect the WAN network to CenturyLink's Gigabit service. I am not using their provided gateway, so I need PPPoE with VLAN tagging (201). I've set it up as seen here (courtesy Jackson Smith):

I checked the VDSL option and entered 201 for VLAN Tag.

The status of the interface continues to say "Connecting" and then disconnected. My normal router is a UniFi USG and I have it configured in the same way, and it works well.

Thanks

  • Hi Keyur,

I actually mentioned that post in mine, and included a screenshot from it to try to explain that it didn't work. I am not sure where to go next, which is why I hope someone has some experience with a similar PPPoE type provider connection.

    Thanks

  • Hi

Please open a log viewer and check "Admin" or "System" events for PPPoE logs.

Please take SSH access of the device and Login to console and execute the command system diagnostics show syslog

Save the PPPoE interface configuration and check the output command for PPPoE and share the output.

You may also execute the command show pppoe connection status

  • Hi, I figured it out. I am using Hyper-V and decided to try setting the vlan tagging on the virtual switch in Hyper-V, and turning off the DSL setting in the network configuration in Sophos, and this worked immediately. This is not the same thing that the other post recommended -- for some reason I just decided to give it a try.

Thanks for your help in trying to figure this out.
