I've been fighting with a requirement that we have related to filtering based on custom URLs that does seem to work. I need to be able to open access to a specific URL when the top level is blocked.
Specifically, due to regulatory purposes we have to block docs.google.com. We're now facing a case where we need to open up access to a specific Google Docs site at doc.google.com/a/abc.com (abc.com being used to mask confidential information).
I've tried using the kb article at https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/127270 which makes it look like a whitelist is theoretically possible, but I'm finding that docs.google.com/a/abc.om is still being blocked. Here's what I've done...
- Created two new categories, one covering docs.google.com classified as Objectionable, one with docs.google.com/a/abc.com classified as Productive.
- Created two new User Activities, one for each new category
- Created a new Policy with the allow action on top, block second
- Applied new policy to test rule
When I hit the new rule, I'm successfully block from accessing docs.google.com, but docs.google.com/a/abc.com is also being blocked.
Any insight why the custom url isn't being allowed when it's listed first?
