XG125
SFOS 17.5.0 GA (issue also exists with prior versions of SFOS)
The LAN port (port 1) on the XG125 was/is dropping out frequently
The connection (right) light goes out.
I replaced the switch, cables, and internet modem.
It was the internet tech that noticed the port dropping.
This causes browsing to either fail, go very slow, or partially load pages.
VPNs also are affected where they drop as often as every few seconds.
My thought was to bypass port 1 by assigning the static IP of port 1 to port 4 and assigning port 4 to the LAN zone. (I also changed port 1 to another static IP in the same subnet)
Both port 1 and port 4 are cabled to the same new switch
When I did the above I noticed that
I can only ping port 4 if I have a cable plugged into port 1
I can ping port 4 even if I don’t have a cable plugged into it as long as port 1 is plugged in
i.e I can’t ping either port unless I have a cable in port 1
This defeats the purpose of bypassing port 1 and the dropping issue.
Right now (after hours) browsing and VPN seem ok but gut tells me I am going to have problems when I walk in tomorrow.
I am afraid to disable port 1 since it seems like I will lose management from the LAN if port 1 is not cabled. I am not familiar with the alternate methods of managing the XG125 and was hoping to avoid the learning curve.
Any thoughts on bypassing port 1 or why port 1 has to be cabled in order to reach ping port 4.
I am able to repeat the issue 100% of the time.
I have been trouble shooting for a week.
Thanks in advance
