Sophos XG Registration issues

Hi,

i'm trying to register my new Sophos XG Firewall. But it's not working. Via SSH i get following message:

        Device Activation in process......
cat: can't open '/tmp/activation_error': No such file or directory
        Operation failed due to an unknown error. Please contact Support.

Via browser i'm stuck in a loop. First i get fowllowing message:

After a few seconds this screen changes to:

After clicking on continue i get back to the first one.

In the Forum there is a similar Problem documented but no answer.

Browsing the Internet from behind the firewall is working without any issues.

  • I already tried Google Chrome and Firefox. Now i also cleared the cache in edge and tried with this, but still the same. The activation via Console is also not working. I get following message:

    { "status": "500", "statusmessage": "Device Cannot be activated for Temporary Serial Number" }

    Edit: During installation wizard i used "join to HA system". Should i do a fresh install without this setting, and try the registration after this? 

    Edit2: Checked now with "reset to factory". Still the same. No registration possible.

    Any ideas?

  • Hi,

    here is the solution.

    I did a fresh install from 17.0.8 MR8 which i downloaded a few month or year ago. And with this iso the Installation and the Registration is working flawlessly,...

  • This is kinda Odd, to be honest. 

    Lets leave it this way, maybe somebody will come back to this issue and can reproduce it, because i cannot do it with V17.1 MR3

    I‘m having exactly the same issue right now.

    Requested the iso file for home use and received the serial number about 5 hours ago.

    During initial setup (using Chrome) I enter the password, select top option to enter the serial and continue. Same procedure as described by topic owner. When trying to sync the license, I‘m getting the same error.

    After that I also cannot use the serial number again, as it tells me, that the serial already has been used for trial already. But within my Sophos Account I Don‘t see any registered device/license.

    Did several installations, tried this with three different serials and used two different internet connections (Unity Media/Cable and Telekom/VDSL).

    Please help. Thanks in advance.

  • Update: 

    Just used Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10, disabled all security features, allowed popups... disabled Sophos AV ... and gave it another try.
    Again a new installation and new serial. Well, NOW IT'S WORKING :-) ... after about 8 hours of try and error.

     

  • Running into the same error after doing a factory reset of one of our applicances. SF01V (SFOS 17.5.8 MR-8)

    please advise 

     

     

     

  • Please investigate the Licensing.log of the Appliance.
