ISO missing bootable flag

Hi all,

I've finally found some time to set up an VMware (6.7) server and was about to install XG Home 17.1.2 on it which I downloaded a couple of days ago. I've been trying all kinds of things to get it to boot from the ISO without success. I've redownloaded the XG home edition to make sure it was not iso related. It turns out that there is a bootable flag missing.
I was able to successfully install OPNSense for example.

See the output below:

$ file SFOS_OSS-17.1.2_MR-2-225.iso OPNsense-18.7-OpenSSL-dvd-amd64.iso "SFOS_OSS-17.1.2_MR-2-225 (1).iso"
SFOS_OSS-17.1.2_MR-2-225.iso: ISO 9660 CD-ROM filesystem data 'CDROM'
OPNsense-18.7-OpenSSL-dvd-amd64.iso: ISO 9660 CD-ROM filesystem data 'OPNSENSE_INSTALL' (bootable)
SFOS_OSS-17.1.2_MR-2-225 (1).iso: ISO 9660 CD-ROM filesystem data 'CDROM'

Please advice how to proceed. I can't imagine this has always been the case..

Kind regards.

  • Ashok... wrong page.  That's for UTM downloads.  For XG, you will need to log into the MySophos portal (go to Sophos.com, select log in in the upper right corner, and log into the MySophos (Licensing) portal).  From there you can choose the network protection option, and from there you can get your downloads -- assuming the account you use is the one you used to register the XG license.

    IF you are setting up for the first time, Reto's advice is sound.
