XG125w + 3G/LTE Expansion module issues

Hardware: XG125w + 3G / LTE Expansion Module

Status:

Network -> Interfaces -> WWAN1 - Connected, IP Address Assigned

Network -> WAN Link Manager -> WWAN1_GW -> Status has red dot

Network -> Cellular LAN -> shows
Connected
Modem Name : Sierra etc.
IP Address, Gateway assigned
showing bytes in and out

Firewall Rule: Default has Any service going to WAN when in LAN (which includes Port 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and Sophos (built in SSID)) - allowed

all other things which could block - OFF

In Diagnostics
PING to both IP and URL - work
TRACERT to both IP and URL - work

POLICY test - works to any address selected.

The Problem

Access to internet is not working. Not ping, tracert, or browser

Yet the device itself can get to the network - can check for updates, patterns, sync's heartbeat to SS, and can ping, tracert, etc - all work.

Rules compared to other Sophos F/W are same - so it should not be the firewall rule (but i could be wrong)

Any help will be useful (I did raise a support call, but they have sort of ignored me after requesting to get onto the box)

  • Hi,

    Can you share some screenshots?

  • I can - with some difficulty as I am of course on different networks (as this requires an internet connection :) )

They are a series of photos instead - too much PT to swap machines around

  • Please check the Gateway status. Your Screenshots shows both Gateways have a red gateway (red dot).

Sometimes you are not able to ping via LTE, so chose another option to check the health status.

If the gateway is red, XG wont consider it as a valid outbound connection.

  • Thanks a million!

I have been trying endless combinations - and this solved the problem!

    Thanks again!

  • I have a similar problem. I just inserted the Sophos XG LTE module into an XG 135 and configured it. It can connect, I can ping through it, but WAN Link Manager shows the interface as status "red". If I disconnect my primary link, it seems to failover to the LTE link, but I can't access anything on the internet.

The logs don't mention anything about the LTE modem at all. No status, no errors, nothing. All I have is a red dot:

Firewall Rules are configured like this:

Any idea what I might be missing?
