You may try the following Steps (May need downtime).

Disable/STOP the services on the SFOS under configure > System Service > Service

Upgrade the firmware , I would recommend you to take a backup before uploading the new firmware.

We are  using the latest Sophos Firmware SFOS 17.0.6 MR-6

There is actually two new versions, mr-7 should show up in your update list, mr-8 if you really want to, but is not needed.

There is no update available for my xg device

In that case you need to logon to your portal and download them or at least mr-8

You can download those updates in your mysophos portal. https://sophos.com/mysophos > Log in with your MYsophos Account > Network Protection > Firmware Updates > Enter Serial Number and you will get a List of releases that fit for your Device.
