How to disable an interface without loosing the configuration?

Hi,

one of my WAN links has failed due to a cable being partially cut. How do I disable that WAN interface without having to change the type to none which causes the configuration to be lost. The umm has a disable button.

Why do I want to disable the interface because the XG does not handle failed interfaces very well, the performance drops significantly, response time blowout.

  • Hi,

this is currently not possible in the GUI.

You "can" play with the ethtool / ipconfig and disable the interface at all, but it is not recommended.

    Just screenshot your config.

    Cheers

  • I had to do a restore, but that didn't cover the lost values. Having done restart after the restore the XG is performing normally. Something has gone wrong with the formatting.

  • Hi,

having to do a restart reminds me of a much earlier post on the subject of connections not being dropped when device is disconnected.
