Import -- Export Success Tips (Both are XG 17MR6)? Backup and Restore does not apply due to Unsupported Migration Path in the XG Family.

The Sophos Gods are crule here -- despite the same number of interfaces you cannot backup from a 135W (or any W aka WIFI branded Sophos Device) and restore to a XG210 (or any other non WIFI integrated Sophos Device.  This being a sick gotcha can be a very expensive to get around.  Anyone succesful in Import / Export?  I have been able to do some exports out of the 135W and import them into the XG210 but many also fail.  Has anyone done this before? I have been able to tranfer over:

  • IP hosts,
  • Web Execeptions,
  • FQDN Hosts,
  • IP Host Groups,
  • and Email Configuration. 

Frustratingly not the Service Groups -- fist shake at XG210.  If anyone has done this? Any tips?

XG 17 MR6 (the 210 is a lot faster than the inhibited 135w).

Unfortunately you may experience these unexpected configuration migration behaviors when you migrate between different models of hardware (wireless | non-wireless | more ports | less ports). Configuration import/exports between similar models is the supported method. You may have to bite the bullet so to speak and recreate the rest of your configuration manually.
