Import -- Export Success Tips (Both are XG 17MR6)? Backup and Restore does not apply due to Unsupported Migration Path in the XG Family.

The Sophos Gods are crule here -- despite the same number of interfaces you cannot backup from a 135W (or any W aka WIFI branded Sophos Device) and restore to a XG210 (or any other non WIFI integrated Sophos Device.  This being a sick gotcha can be a very expensive to get around.  Anyone succesful in Import / Export?  I have been able to do some exports out of the 135W and import them into the XG210 but many also fail.  Has anyone done this before? I have been able to tranfer over:

  • IP hosts,
  • Web Execeptions,
  • FQDN Hosts,
  • IP Host Groups,
  • and Email Configuration. 

Frustratingly not the Service Groups -- fist shake at XG210.  If anyone has done this? Any tips?

XG 17 MR6 (the 210 is a lot faster than the inhibited 135w).

    I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Unfortunately you may experience these unexpected configuration migration behaviors when you migrate between different models of hardware (wireless | non-wireless | more ports | less ports). Configuration import/exports between similar models is the supported method. You may have to bite the bullet so to speak and recreate the rest of your configuration manually.
