Connecting a printer to a Sophos XG 210

Hello,

I have a Sophos XG 210 in my network and currently i want to connect my network printer to it for everyone usage.

What i did:

1. I connect the printer to port 6 of my sophos XG 210 and move the port to the LAN zone

2. I set it to DHCP so that it can be on the same subnet like my LAN

3. I set a firewall rule going from LAN -> LAN.

But up till now, the network printer is not getting IP and i cant reach it.

Can anyone advise how best to advertise the printer on the network?

  • Why not just connect the printer to the LAN instead of going about the connection the hard way?

    LAN to LAN will not work, you are sending the traffic to itself.

    If you want the printer on a different physical connection then you will need a different IP address for the interface and the network.

  • That is my network map below.

    Port 1 -> LAN(Wifi)

    Port 2 -> WAN

    Port 6 -> Printer.

    After using the setup i typed up there, i decided to change the setup.

    I bridge port 1(LAN) and Port 6(Printer) together.

    Still, i still cant reach the printer.

    Is there any other thing i can do or omitting.

    NB: I want to eliminate the use of switch.

    Thanks

  • Very strange, if the ports 1 and 6 are in the same zone, LAN in this case, IP addresses should communicate. You don't need rules in the zone is the same... so, are the port 1 and 6 in the same zone? you can reach the printer with ping?
