Add AP55 to XG135, pending Access point nothing

Before we connected AP55 to XG135, I test it ok in home network (using Sophos Central)

After that I move AP55 to connect XG135, AP55 is gotten IP address from DHCP server. But in XG135 Protect>Wireless>Access Point>Pending Access Point  (No AP showing up)

As per sophos forum advised, DHCP server / Default Gateway is not XG135 LAN IP, I need to add Pre-defind scope 234 to pint to XG135 LAN IP in DHCP server. I did it. But still no AP show up in Pending Access Point.

I don't have any idea how to activate AP55  , Please help

  • Hey

Have you attempted the troubleshooting steps listed in this KB article?

  • Hi,

another approach, try disabling the auto functions and the bandwidth (down to 20mhz) on the 5ghz channel. After it has been activated then you can restore your settings.

I have run this procedure on two AP55 to prove that it works.

  • Yes, I read it and follow it before I post to help.

    Also I  checked that  AP55 (192.168.0.129 ) trying to connect 18.218.198.126.

Is it because it try to connect sophos central (which I config/test at home)??

The config is hardcode in AP55 and I forget to delete it before I move to office network.

  • Thanks your reply. I am unable to management access point , so  I can't disable auto function/bandwidth.

  • Why did you connect it to sophos central rather than your XG?

    Ian

  • Before I tested it at home. so I use sophos central to access it.

As you suggest I take back home to connect sophos central again and then reset the factory setting ?? (But I didn't see any factory reset button in sophos central. They just delete button to unregister AP.)

Is there any other connection (ssh, telnet) to AP55 doing factory reset??

The other thing I concern that our default gateway is pointed to L3 Switch instead of XG-135. That make AP55 can't communicate to XG-135. (Because after installed XG135, I am still trying to solve another problem)

  • Hi,

try plugging the AP directly into a LAN port of the XG, assuming you have DHCP enabled on that port. Unregistering the AP should in theory reset it to factory defaults. Flo would be a better person to advise on that side if required.

  • Finally Fix it.

    - connect back to sophos central (need to open NTP port), and deleted deivce.

    - go back XG135 console, AP55 is showing in pending access point
