Task Status Stuck on "Exported"

SMC 4.0 -- For some reason, sometimes tasks stay stuck in "Exported" mode and won't return "Successful" once they are done. We are seeing this when pushing apps to devices. And, of couse, since it's stuck on "Exported", it won't move on to the next task because it's stuck waiting for "Successful". Support has been little help.

Has anybody else seen this? Have a fix? Thanks!

Hi eposadas,

If the status is hanging on "Exported" it typically means that the device is currently processing your task.
Once the task is finished the device should synchronize back to the SMC server and then change the status to "Result evaluation" and then to "Successful" or "Failed".

Maybe the synchronization back to the server fails? Have you tried to synchronize the device using the SMC app?

They sync will fail at times as well. That's the issue at hand -- how do we track down why synching has stopped?

Seems most are 9.2. What changed in 9.2 and how do we address it?

There currently is a bug in iOS 9.2. You can try to re-enroll the iOS device with SMC or wait for the iOS 9.2.1 release.

Thanks. This seems close. But the application does install. It just doesn't report a successful installation back to SMC so the status stays at "Exported" and never changed to "Successful". Is that part of this bug?

After an app is installed a complete MDM Synchronization is done including the list of managed apps.
We have seen devices where this sync (to be exact: the mdmd process) crashes when creating that list and the device won't synchronize anymore.
So this seems to be related.
