  • Hello Sam,

are you talking about the Data Control (DLP) feature of the endpoint SESC?

SESC Data Control is solely reading, assessing and potentially blocking files on the endpoint and if necessary restricting writes to removable storage to be done by Explorer. The network doesn't come into play.

  • Hi Christian

    Thank you for your reply

What about when the file is stored in a network share drive? We think it is the problem, but I am not sure.

    Cheers

  • Hello Sam,

    a network share drive

is not considered as "outside" (or a potential path to the outside), thus DLP/DC does not apply as only the device types Floppy, Optical and Removable Storage and certain applications are destinations subject to control.

Do you just assume it is DLP or have you verified it by turning of DC scanning? It might be the regular on-access scanning is causing noticeable delays especially when you scan on both the endpoint and the share's host and with scan on write/rename enabled. What's "behind" the share - just a folder on a server-local disk or some "advanced" storage?
