CIDSYNC_E_RCIDERROR (Remote CID is corrupted.)

Question

Hello,

I tried to install the client on a new machine (Win7 SP1, 32 Bit), but it fails to download from the server.

This is what I get when I manually want to update:

Any idea what I should try?

The server provides updates for about 100 machines, and this works very well except for the new machine.

Good (well, not so good but at least you have time to react before it goes boom). As it soon will cause troubles anyway you could assume that the CID is actually corrupt. SUM (although it failed to detect it) can usually correct this. There's a shorter and a longer path. The short path is just emptying the CID on the server and then forcing it to get rebuilt by requesting Update now for the update manager. The longer path involves emptying/deleting not only the CID but also the Working and Warehouse folders and the SUM_Status.xml and specialactions.xml files in the programs ( \Sophos\E..C..\SUM or \Sophos\Update Manager folder). I'd try rebuilding the CID first (if you put in any configuration e.g. mrinit.conf or a policy xml file do not forget to reapply it). Usually that does it. Christian :17965
