Changed Account's Password Now SEC doesn't open

Hello,

Account's password was changed (this is the same account used to install SEC 4x). Now SEC 5.0 (upgraded a couple of months ago) doesn't work.

How to tell SEC 5.0 to use the new account's password.

Regards,

  • Hi,

If the "modify" fixed up your SEC 5.0, you should now be able to run the 5.1 setup.exe to upgrade it to SEC 5.1.

In the case of an upgrade, at the end of the setup.exe "wizard" the button will say "Upgrade".  As the information is collected by setup.exe, you haven't changed anything until you click "Upgrade", so you can safely go to the end of the installer without changing anything.

You will notice in the bootstrap log of SEC 5.1 ("\programdata\sophos\Management Installer\") that the workflow will say "Upgrade".

The upgrade workflow, should not ask you for the "database" details, if it does show the database page, do not continue with the upgrade, it suggests there are missing registry keys that should be corrected before attempting the upgrade.  Reply back here if that is the case :).

    Good luck!

    Regards,
