Changed Account's Password Now SEC doesn't open

Hello,

Account's password was changed (this is the same account used to install SEC 4x). Now SEC 5.0 (upgraded a couple of months ago) doesn't work.

How to tell SEC 5.0 to use the new account's password.

Regards,

  • Hi,

You should run the setup.exe of the version that is currently installed.

    SEC 5.0:

    C:\sec_50\ServerInstaller\Setup.exe

    SEC 5.1:

    C:\sec_51\ServerInstaller\Setup.exe

If you are running SEC 5.x, you can view the version of the individual components in "Add or Remove Programs"/"Programs and Features".  If you install everything on the same machine you would have:

    1. Sophos Management Database
    2. Sophos Management Server
    3. Sophos Management Console

So when you re-run setup.exe, at the "component" page it will tick all the components that already installed and go into a modify workflow.  You can confirm the workflow in the bootstrap log created by setup.exe.  In SEC 5,0, this is in %temp%, for SEC 5.1 it is in: "\programdata\sophos\Management Instaler\"

So if the "Database" component is already installed and already ticked, the modify it will not touch the existing databases.  The only time it would drop and re-create the database is if the database component wasn't installed but you had manually created the databases from the batch files.  The installer in this case wouldn't know about them.
