Is there anything in the Windows Event log from MBAM regarding this state?

This may be due to the TPM protector you specified in the BIOS:

The encryption was postponed.

1. Log off or Reboot the Client 
2. Log on
3. Confirm the Sophos Device Encryption dialog by pressing the Restart and Encrypt button. Depending on the used protector it is necessary to define a PIN, Password or attach a USB flash drive.
