On-access scanning cripples PDFs downloaded from the web

All of a sudden (since a couple of days) on-acces scanning causes ANY PDF file downloaded from the web (no matter the web browser) to be crippled: Acrobat in fact complains it is not a supported file or it has been damaged, and indeed it's contents are altered with respect to the original file.

The problem is reproducible. As soon as on-line scanning is inhibited on PDF files, they are downloaded correctly.

Quite odd for the scanning should only read the contents, not filter them.

No any message from SES&C related to this issue.

Anybody has the same problem?

[ Endpoint security and control = 10.3 - under Microsoft Windows 7 Professional ]

Thank you.

  • We have been having issues with downloads in general.  All of our software that use update mamagers are stalling.  Downloading software from Microsoft Volume licensing is painful.  We constantly have to pause and resume.  We've found that disabling the Web Control service can sometimes fix the problem.  The issue has just started in the last few weeks and we are hearing more and more employees experiencing issues when dowloading from a browser.
