Software Distribution question

Should the software distribution, from the distribution tab when view/edit update manager, change to a newly created software subscription?

Just to be clear -

Recommended is the only software subscription there for it is listed as the software distribution.  When I add a second subscription, it replaces Recommended on the distribution tab.  I can click the drop down and select Recommended but it doesn't stick.

Should I be concerned?

  • Hello dluneau,

v9 requires at least Mac OS X 10.6 and while some of our users have successfully installed 8.0.x on 10.9 it is supported only with v9 (IIRC "fully" with 9.0.5).

A second subscription gives you the option to quickly "switch" versions for the endpoint (v9 adds Web Protection and has architectural changes so there might still be issues with certain configurations) but if your Windows and Mac clients share the same policies requires extra space for the Windows software (and, depending on your group structure, might be a pain to administer the update policies).
