Error with Sophos Patch Agent

I am trying to install Sophos endpoint on this one machine, all others endpoints have installed fine, every thing seems to go OK but on installing the Patch Agent the updater reports "cannot connect to server". But all the other packages installed fine with the same permissions fine. I've double checked permissions for the Updater folder, I've checked the user and password and also tried clearing the Sophos cache.

Below is an extract from the Auto Update log, from where I think the problem is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  • Hello KORAdmin,

guess the endpoint is running same OS as the others (which one?) and you've cleared the complete cache (C:\ProgramData\Sophos\AutoUpdate\cache\). Is there anything in ...\Cache\spa64\?

How do you install - using Protect computers? There are just two other threads which mention SDCOM_E_VFS_OPENFAILED and in one case the initial install (bootstrap) location was a stale CID. But this would require tht this client has a different policy assigned.

  • Hi Christian,

The OS is windows 7 x64 (Pro), yeah I removed the entire cache folder with no joy. I believe this package was installed with the manual installer.

But I have got around the problem by uninstalling the endpoint and using the "protect computer" option from the console, although that didn't work when I first tried it. Now looking through the set up with it complete there is no "Patch Agent" installed. Very strange.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hello KORAdmin,

did you select Patch when using Protect - it's not installed by default.
