Strange behaviour after migration

Hi,

I just tried to migrate a SEC 5.1 from a Windows 2003 Server (32 Bit) to a Windows 2008 Server (64 Bit). I strictly followed the migration guide http://www.sophos.com/en-us/medialibrary/PDFs/migration/sec_51_mgeng.pdf but once I start SEC I get an error message just for a fraction of a second (I had a really hard time making a screenshot so that I could actually read it...) and after that I can't click anything on the SEC window - including the cross to close it! (The window just doesn't get focussed at all!) The only way to close it is to use the task manager - which in turn works like a charm.

So here's the screenshot of the error message:

Of course I followed the link, but that doesn't help me.

Now, I must admit that I made a little mistake during migration. When it came to modifying registry keys I was supposed to insert "Wow6432Node" in some keys and I did insert "WOW6432Node" which lead to a registry node like

[HKLM]\Software\Wow6432Node\Sophos\WOW6432Node\

I was not at all aware that registry keys are case sensitive!

Now, I hopefully corrected that mistake but the behaviour didn't change...

Any help would be appreciated...

Thomas

  • Hello Thomas,

the notification window should actually be in front of the main window - which is blocked by the pop-up. Maybe minimizing/restoring the console via the taskbar can "unhide" it.
Are you sure you have the keys correct now as SUM obviously still thinks it's not yet configured?
