Email Alerts Not Working Enteprise Console 5.2.0.644

Hi all,

Was hoping somone could advise on a problem we're experiencing with email alerts. We have set up email alerts for the dashbaord and for our AV policy but when we try and test them, no emails are received.

I can telent from the server to our exchange server and successfully send a message but using the Test button in the Enerprise Console doesn't work.

Also, if I enter an incorrect SMTP server name or IP in the AV policy and click Test, it says successful which to me means the Test is actually doing nothing. If I do the same for the SMTP config on dashboard alerts it does recognize the incorrect server.

Anyone seen this before ? We're running Windows server 2012.

    the Test button just verfies that there's an SMTP server at the specified address, sending a HELO and a QUIT (note: for the SEC alerts this is done from the management server, for the AV policy from the computer running the console).

    I don't have 5.2.0 so I can't say if the test is broken in this version, I get the expected results (name not found or connection could not be established) on 5.0 and 5.2.

    Which alerts did you set up in the console? AFAIK you won't get any indication from SEC if the server rejects the mail (and it might also silently get discarded).

    If indeed the AV policy test returns success regardless of the name used you should contact support.
