Best Practice: installing client on Update Manager host?

May sound like a weird question :smileyfrustrated:, but i have seen servers that have the Enterprise Console installed, but not the client .. 

To quench my doubts, please tell me this is needed, or not? Any specific exceptions to load for that machine too?

    Hello IK,

    after installing SEC the server itself appears as first endpoint in the Unassigned group. After creating a group with appropriate policies you move it there and then use Protect computers.
