Uninstall from Mac

I know I've seen this come up hundreds of times, but no matter what I try, I can't seem to get rid of all traces of the program. All I want to do is get the old version of Sophos off my mac so I can get the new one installed on my system.

I've deleted the file from my Apps using the trash can. I've gone into my Library>App Support>Sophos folder and found no uninstall program, so I deleted the folder. I can't reinstall the program to try and get the uninstall because I got it from a CD at my college, which I graduated from already. I've looked through every folder I have to find any traces of the name and haven't found anything. I've gone to my Acitivity Monitor and made sure Sophos had quit on there. I've removed the little icon from my menu bar at the top as well as the large icon on the bottom of the screen.

I've completely run out of options. All I want to do is protect my computer. Is there some kind of uninstall program? Or could someone just send me the uninstall package. There has got to be something to do to get rid of this program.

  • That new edition is actually what I was trying to install, but no matter how hard I try, it won't let me do so. I keep getting a message saying "There is an older version of Sophos on this computer that is not compatable with to the update" or something very similar.

I'm trying to get ahold of my old school to see if they would be willing to lend me a copy to fix this by reinstalling and uninstalling that way. I used to work with the computer services on campus, so I figured it would be worth a shot.
