"Updating: Failed" since the last 3 days

I have attempted to figure this out from numerous previous posts by comparing trace logs, but I am unable to put my finger on the problem.

Please help!

Note:

- I installed this product from the installer provided by my University, it was working and updating fine for more than a month on my Windows 8 Pro x64.

- 3 days ago, the little red X appeared on the tray icon, and never went away.

    good job regarding the logs. Now near the bottom it states that the SAVXP install has failed. You'll find the log in the \Windows\temp directory. Search for Return value 3 - the preceding lines likely have details on the cause of the error.
