SAV v. 9.1.6 for Mac requires libcrypto.dylib v. 1.0.0?

Hi,

I’’’’m using SAV v. 9.1.6 for Mac with OS X v. 10.9.4. Suddenly the on-access scanner won’’’’t start (I can’’’’t start it manually either), I can’’’’t update the the anti-virus software and several times a minute SAV generates error messages and crash reports of the following types, slowing my Mac down. Is anyone else experiencing this problem, and is there a solution to it? Thank you in advance for you replies!

Nina

  • Hi again,

I solved the problem myself by copying "libcrypto.dylib" from "/Library/Sophos Anti-Virus/Libraries" in an old Time Machine backup to my current "/Library/Sophos Anti-Virus/Libraries", where the file seemed to be missing. After restarting my computer, the error messages stopped appearing in my log file and I was able to update Sophos again. After the update, the on-acess scanner enabled itself as well. Why "libcrypto.dylib" was suddenly missing from my setup, I don't know.

  • I'm having the same issues as the OP on a number of our Mac's that have just updated to OSX 10.9.4

  • Hm - something is wrong, have the same symptoms: Over two occasions in the last two days, the Sophos on-access scanner gets disabled without intervention:

Yesterday I thought Sophos had lost my update credentials (update is fetched automatically from a company, actually University, server), so I went and copied the preferences files over from a backup (had to do as root).

Everything was fine then, the update occured automatically yesterday eve (and I believe on access scan was running).

Just today I suddenly notice it is off again. This time no notice (yesterday I got a pop-up message informing that on access scanning would be off).

I checked the console messages, but I don't know what to look for (not as experienced as mnu/Nina above).

What I found is shown below. At the end there is a 'load' command - but that's hours ago and nothing new.

    Strange. What now?

  • Started a manual update ('Update now') and following this, on-access scanning started normally.
