Client appears in Update Managers

I am facing a problem in my enterprise console that one of the client appears in update managers automatically. whenever i delete it from there manually it again appears there after few minutes. what is the reason of this ? how should i stop it from appearing there. it should only appear in endpoints but it also appears in update managers automatically .....

  • Hi,

Sorry if this is an obvious question but I assume the machine doesn't have Sophos Update Manager (SUM) still running on it?

Does the "Sophos Update Manager " service exist on this "client"?
Does the "SophosUpdateMgr.exe " process appear to be running on it?

The "client" has to be bringing the record back to life in the SUM list I would think.  As the status message comes in from the machine, it must have with it a SUM status seciton in the XML.

  • Hi,

In that case on that client you should have an entry in "Add or remove programs"/"Programs and Features" to uninstall Sophos Update Manager I would think?  Once you do that, the status messages won't come back with SUM status information causing it to re-appear in the SUM list.
