On-Access scans when reading files although it is configured to only scan when writing

Hello,

we recently migrated from Netware to OES2. Since then we have the problem that large files cause problems if Sophos On-Access is active.
Opening one of these files takes up to 5 minutes. Backing up one of these files let the backup software interrupt its job. If I disable Sophos On-Access, opening and backup of these files work without problems.

The main problem is that we configured On-Access so that files should only be scanned when writing them not when reading oder renaming them!! Why does it still scan when only reading the files?

Now I excluded these files in the enterprise console within the policy assigned to the managed linux servers and backup works.

We have 5 SLES Server in a OES2 Cluster. Servers are managed by the Sophos enterprise console installed on a Windows server.

Do you have any hints to solve the problem?
Thank you in advance
Anna

Environment:
