New user, two problems, trial.

OI decided to test the standalose version os Sophos Endpoint Security on a Windows Vista x64 box.

I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the program uses an old school approach, and does not make assumptions

Each process is lbocked by default unless you allow it. I love it.

I decided to buy Sophos for my Home computers. I have a Windows 7 Laptop and a Vista x64 desktop.

I wrote an email to the support asking forpricing.

ALL the other antivirus companies state clearly what is the price for their packag, i did not find this info on your Websites/webshops?

1.Howcome is that? Do you work only with corporate customers?

2.Why did my software work flawlessly for some time, and than all of a sueedn i recieved a message that i do not have enough admin rights?

3.After searchin for a solution i did an command, forcing a reinstall based on files in the cache.

The admin windows disapeared, but now my software has stopped updating after this "procedure".

i deleted all the stuff from the cache folder, updates starte dworking again.

But why is this. A normal program should not require user intervention on this level, this is stupid, i am disapointed.

So i am baffled?

-Do i really want to buy this for my home computers? Please guys tell me thare is a magical solution for updates to start working again? did my trial expire? where is this info?

    Sophos sells only to corporate customers

    As for the failed SAVXP update the log unfortunately doesn't contain a detailed reason. More information would be in the ALUpdatexxxx.log (in %ProgramData%\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Logs).

    here is the log file from today

    perhaps my ISP had DNS issues or something related with my internet connectivity?

    Prorgam is still not updating.

    How do i check out when does the trial expire?

    i looked in about section, to no avail.

    Too bad to hear that i cannot use this software in my SOHO network.

    Oh well, i will test another product with a separate or integrated firewall.

    -Do you offer separate toolkits like rootkit/ssdt hook kiot/ boot kit removal tools that i can use as a supplement to my existing toolbox?

    I'm not you - i.e. I'm not Sophos. just a customer. Sophos offers a number of free tools. While there are no Home licenses there is a Small Business product line.

    The trial licenses are usually valid for 30 days. The message you get (Couldn't authenticate user for resource with host server ) suggests that the credentials are not valid (i.e. either expired or you made a typo when entering them). You can check them a written here.

    i think i used some promotion for 60 trial days or similar but i could be wrong
