After the Shh issue - Enterprise Console wont connect to workstations

Since we are a small company, I went to a few Windows 7 stations and Windows XP station to manuall remove and reinstall the Sophos Anti-virus.  Now those computers show up in Enterprise Console greyed out and wont let me protect them.

I get an Access Denied error code 80070005 With Windows 7 and Error code 000000034 with the Windows XP Machines.

Just wondering what could have happened.

  • I had similar. Close Sophos Control center and reopen. Right click affected PC and delete. Close Sophos Control center and reopen. Go through Protect New Computers. Worked for me.

The error 00000034 and access denied 80070005 imply that the endpoints could not access the shared central installation directory files on the Control Center.

The following KB contains more details but things to check would be that you can manually connect to the share from the client side, verify the share permissions, and even a possibility that there is a DNS or networking issue if not all machines report these errors.

At worst case, you can reinstall the SAV on the endpoint manually by browsing to the SAVSCFXP share and running setup.exe.

    Hope that helps.
