How do you configure an Update Manager without Internet access ?

I am trying to configure my Update Manager but I do not have direct access to the Sophos website.

I have installed SophosEnterpriseConsole_4.5.

I have copies of Warehouse and CIDs from a Server that does have access to the Sophos website so I have copied these onto my Server's "SophosUpdateManager" share.

I now want to edit my "Recommended" Subscription and select "Windows 2000 and above" but I can not get to the form where you do this. I get a message telling me to run the Download Security Software Wizard to configure the local update manager to download from Sophos. But as I don't have access to the Internet this is no use to me.

I am sure that in the past all I had to do was manually populate the "SophosUpdateManager" share but I am obviously missing something.

Can anybody tell me what I need to do ?

Thanks

  • Hi Christian,

you may well be right about the Firewall service not really being the cause because I've now seen a different installation where Firewall is running but I'm still having problems.

So in answer to your question,  it is still working now and I don't have any errors. It just so happened that it all started to work immediately after I'd turn on that service.

So this thread can now be closed down.

Unfortunately I've got an almost identical problem on another network. I'll start a new thread for that one.

    Cheers
