How do you configure an Update Manager without Internet access ?

I am trying to configure my Update Manager but I do not have direct access to the Sophos website.

I have installed SophosEnterpriseConsole_4.5.

I have copies of Warehouse and CIDs from a Server that does have access to the Sophos website so I have copied these onto my Server's "SophosUpdateManager" share.

I now want to edit my "Recommended" Subscription and select "Windows 2000 and above" but I can not get to the form where you do this. I get a message telling me to run the Download Security Software Wizard to configure the local update manager to download from Sophos. But as I don't have access to the Internet this is no use to me.

I am sure that in the past all I had to do was manually populate the "SophosUpdateManager" share but I am obviously missing something.

Can anybody tell me what I need to do ?

Thanks

  • Hello Peter,

I haven't seen this one. You are using a UNC path? Anyway, this is beyond my meager knowledge.

BTW: You mentioned the FW and ICS services - now on my test Win7 ICS is not running and I've also turned off FW without any bad effect so I wonder of these were really the cause? Is it working now or do you still have errors?
