How do you configure an Update Manager without Internet access ?

I am trying to configure my Update Manager but I do not have direct access to the Sophos website.

I have installed SophosEnterpriseConsole_4.5.

I have copies of Warehouse and CIDs from a Server that does have access to the Sophos website so I have copied these onto my Server's "SophosUpdateManager" share.

I now want to edit my "Recommended" Subscription and select "Windows 2000 and above" but I can not get to the form where you do this. I get a message telling me to run the Download Security Software Wizard to configure the local update manager to download from Sophos. But as I don't have access to the Internet this is no use to me.

I am sure that in the past all I had to do was manually populate the "SophosUpdateManager" share but I am obviously missing something.

Can anybody tell me what I need to do ?

Thanks

  • Hello Peter,

I see. I have set up a VM to test how SEC5.0 behaves and if I either can reproduce this behaviour or make it work as we want. It is still chugging along though. Meanwhile I can just guess. Any details on why the Software Update failed?

Apart from this - wonder if At least one update manager must be configured to update from Sophos ... means it doesn't find what it expects in the Warehouse (in other words, the Warehouse is corrupt) or if it really insists that Sophos as source is somewhere in the hierarchy (but if it then works without an actual connection to Sophos this would seem weird). Just for the fun of it - what happens if you really add Sophos as a source?

I'll post again once I have results.
