Sophos blocking Sophos ?!?

Hello everyone,

30-10-2012 13:30:09  Suspicious behavior  zFP-ORACLE http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/118379.aspx

Anyone know what we are doing wrong? Thing is, i dont remember opening sites yesterday or any day of this week.

Accessing the Sophos site from my Enterprise Console 5.0.0.8 'server'.

Thanks for any help you want to give.

Greetings

Arris

  • @testpilot

I believe this is just an alert to advise you of any third party applications that sophos may have deleted as part of the recent false positive updating debacle. These being adobe/oracle/google updater.

  • Hello Arris,

just look up the referenced articles.

  • Hi Arris,

QC is correct that you should read the links returned by the console. It looks as though you've interpreted these messages as alerts that the linked pages are themselves suspicious. Sorry, that was not our intention.

In fact, what's intended is that you should read the linked knowledgebase article if you get a zFP alert, in this case on Google, Adobe, Oracle, and "other".

We're investigating how to make these messages more clear in future. Thanks for flagging this for our attention. It's a prime example of how something that seems clear to us can be quite the opposite to someone else.

    Best regards,

    spike.

  • Thank you very much for that information Christian and Spike, i know i should have read the information.

But thought it was kind of strange that Sophos would flag his own site as potentially unsave.

Good to see your working on it, and i will try to think/read before directly posting here, the information provided by your articel did explain the situation that occurd on the server.

    Thanks everyone for your responses.
