How to completely remove Sophos

We have been evaluating Sophos on a Win2K8 server and have now come to remove the product. I was able to remove the Enterprise Console okay but when attempting the same on Anti_Virus, AutoUpdate and Remote Management Services I end up with the error "You have insufficient privileges to uninstall this product". Um, I am signed on as a Domain Admin.

How can we remove it cleanly please ?

  • Just called support on this very issue. You have to log into tamper protection via the client app and then disable it first. Then make sure you disable autoupdate service, then uninstall the remote management, then anti-virus, then auto update.

  • I have someone who was making an image, and left Sophos in the image.  Now I can't remove it.

"Tamper protection" is grayed out.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Hello ParallaxView,

apart from the question why you'd want to remove Sophos (and where else this image will be used) - do you mean that all three items of TP (Configure, View log and Authenticate user) are gray? Likely the user you are logged in with is not a member of the SophosAdministrator group. If TP is enabled you'd still need the TP password after adding this user to the group.
