Hi,
to avoid the use of a proxy we need the full address of the Sophos server (which we're using as second update server). Now it is set as Sophos, nothing else. Who can help us?

Hello Jo,
AutoUpdate (on Windows) doesn't use the system proxy (if you configure one in the update settings you can't bypass it - i.e. if you require an explicit proxy in your network the same proxy is used when the laptops are somewhere else ).
Anyway - Sophos is "translated" to the mentioned names which in turn are resolved to one or more addresses depending on the nameservers used. Thus the effect would be the same. Furthermore the names used for the generic Sophos address could be changed without notice, they are not meant to be entered explicitly.
If a (different) proxy is required or none available at a remote location the Proxy Details in Configure updating have to be changed as appropriate. Fiddling with the address will get you nowhere.
