PC or server?

Hello,

I was wondering, we're having about 400 machines at work. Is it really necessary to have the 'server' installed on a real server, or would it also be possible to run it on a workstation? Those 400 pc's are never running together.

  • Hello Jo,

as the update location is written by SUM and read by the clients you need:

    1. one account with read/write permissions - you'd then specify it in Configure update manager -> Distribution. Add the share (it has to exist already), move it to the Update to: pane and specify the credentials using Configure ....
    2. one account with read access which you would then use in the updating policy
