  • Hello tedz,

to make sure I understand you correctly - you have SEC (the full management server including database) running on some server which is a domain member (or is it a DC)? And you want to install the remote console on another server (or a workstation) which is a member of the same domain? Are you logged in with a domain admin or a local admin?

RESOLVE USER ERROR doesn't sound like anything I've seen before - could you please post the exact message (or ideally a screenshot)?

  • Yes I have SEC  (the full management server including database) running on Windows server 2003 SP2 which is a domain controller. And I install a remote console in separate server which is member of the same domain. I log in to domain admins.

Link below is the screenshot  of the error.

  • Hello tedz,

so the database user is a domain account, right? Did you select it using the Browse ... button - just wondering why the screenshot doesn't show the name.

There should be a Sophos_bootstrapper dd-mm-yyyy hh_mm_ss.log in the installing user's %TEMP% directory, this should have more details on what went wrong (if you logged in via RDP it might have been cleared at logoff so just rerun the install in case it's not there).  Shouldn't be too large so you might be able to post it here.

  • Just to say, if it's SEC 5.1 the log has moved to appdata, so:

    \ProgramData\Sophos\Management Installer

    or

    \Documents and settings\All users\application data\ProgramData\Sophos\Management Installer
