On-Access Scanning Not Responding on Windows 7 Pro

I just upgraded to Sophos Endpoint Security and Control v9.5 on a Windows 7 Pro laptop.  It was pushed down over our network.  I am not able to get the On Access scanner to work. It states that it the "On Access Scanner is not responding."

Any ideas on what I can do to get this to work.

Thank you.

  • Hello,

I have a couple of questions for you...

Does this state persist after a reboot, does that start it working?

Where is this message you mention displayed?

Using a command prompt running as Administrator (right click cmd and choose "Run as administrator") what is the output of the following commands:

    driverquery /V | find /I "SAVOnAcces"

    should be something like:

SAVOnAccess  SAVOnAccess            SAVOnAccess            File System   System

        Running    OK         TRUE        FALSE        0          114,688    0

    09/12/2010 12:40:19    C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\savonaccess.sys      8,192

fltmc instances | find /I "SAVOnAccess"

    should be something like:

    C:\Windows\system32>FLTMC instances | find /I "SAVOnAccess"
    SAVOnAccess           \Device\Mup                             324000       SAVOnAccess Instance     0
    SAVOnAccess           C:                                      324000       SAVOnAccess Instance     0
    SAVOnAccess                                                   324000       SAVOnAccess Instance     0
    SAVOnAccess           D:                                      324000       SAVOnAccess Instance     0
    SAVOnAccess           Y:                                      324000       SAVOnAccess Instance     0
    SAVOnAccess           \Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy9       324000       SAVOnAccess Instance     0
    SAVOnAccess           \Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy10      324000       SAVOnAccess Instance     0
    SAVOnAccess           \Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy8       324000       SAVOnAccess Instance     0
    SAVOnAccess           \Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy7       324000       SAVOnAccess Instance     0
    SAVOnAccess           \Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy6       324000       SAVOnAccess Instance     0

Also what is the output of:

    net start savservice

does it say it's already started ot that it fails?

    Regards,

    Jak
