New to Sophos deployment, please help!

Hello everyone,

I am working on a Sophos project and we need to deploy Sophos to our clients. I have installed an enterprise console in our network (active directory) and protect all computers from console within our company.

My question is: can I protect our client’’’’s computer from the enterprise console? (Client computers will be sitting behind a firewall and within their own active directory environment).

If yes, the can anyone tell me how to assign the computers to the group since not our clients computers have public IP addresses.

If no, then I assume I need to install an enterprise console on the client side and protect computers from there. Do I use the same Sophos username and password as I did for our internal network? Or do I need to purchase another Sophos product suite?

Thanks.

  • HI,

I would suggest manually deploying to one of the machines first to ensure it can be managed in SEC.  Deployment is just the ability to create a remote scheduled task on the remote machine from SEC in order to run setup.exe from the distribution point.

So I would try a manual install by running setup on a test machine.  Once that's all ok there are plenty of ways to deploy the software if SEC creating a scheduled task fails.
